From seeing millions of tulips in Holland, Mich. to visiting wineries in Fredericksburg, Texas, small towns are filled with hidden gems and unique offerings. With too many towns to highlight in one post, we decided to start a series highlighting small towns worth visiting.

Fredericksburg, Texas

Full of southern charm, this Texas town is ideal for a girl’s weekend or romantic retreat. Located in the Texas Hill Country, Fredericksburg is known for its award-winning wineries, bed and breakfasts, and shopping.

Relaxing accommodations

This secluded bed and breakfast serves a two-course daily breakfast featuring made-from-scratch orange cranberry scones and Italian scrambled eggs. With five bedrooms and a cottage, Queen Ann B&B offers a cozy and relaxing stay for all guests. Grab a blanket and relax by the fireplace, or relax in the Hot Springs hot tub on the deck. Queen Ann B&B also features a full daily breakfast so their guests won’t leave hungry.

Discover the beauty of the Texas Hill Country when you stay at Barons Creekside. Located on 26 acres complete with creeks running through the property, guests will enjoy their stay in one of Barons Creekside’s cabins. For those needing accommodations for large parties, Barons Creekside allows guests to rent out the whole property so everyone can be together.


Discover a road winding with wineries along Wine Road 290. Along the route visit Becker Vineyards and sip on their award-winning wines including their White Wing wine, which won a gold medal from the 2016 San Francisco Int’l Wine Competition. Try some wine-infused chocolate at Torre de Pietra or enjoy wine tastings at Fiesta Winery. Wine Road 290 also provides a shuttle service, 290 Wine Shuttle, on Saturday and Sunday that picks up visitors from a designated location and takes them to the wineries located on Wine Road 290.

Voted Best Brewpub in Texas by Texas Monthly, Fredericksburg Brewery Company is worth visiting. Try their Red Ale or Porter while you chow down on an Ale burger. Make sure to visit their Biergarten which features a full bar of brews on tap.

Before your getaway ends, stop by Fredericksburg Pie Company and grab a slice of homemade pie. From a peanut butter cup cream pie to a bourbon orange pecan pie, Fredericksburg Pie Company is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Stop and Shop

From jewelry to china to chandeliers, Red Baron Antique Mall is filled with antiques and unique finds. This 10,000 square foot store features 50 antique dealers that are consistently filling the Red Baron Antique Mall with new treasures.

Full of women’s apparel and purses along with dazzling accessories, Sassy Lassie is a shopaholic’s dream.  Sassy Lassie caters to more than just women, they also have children’s clothes along with a man cave where you can watch sports on their big screen TV.

When you visit Fredericksburg General Store you are in for a treat (literally). Candy, souvenirs, and collectibles are just a few of the items you will discover in the store. Fredericksburg General Store also has a variety of old-fashioned toys such as wind-up toys and potato guns, which are fun for adults and kids alike.
