Spring Travel

After the winter that so many of us have had around North America, there’s no doubt that we’re anxious for sunshine and warm weather, so we’ve included a few cities that make for a great spring getaway.

  • Portland
    • Lan Su Garden: (Currently Open: Daily from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
      • This beautiful garden was done in collaboration with Portland and its sister city in China, Suzhou. It’s no secret that Portland is known for their beautiful gardens and appreciation of such. Make sure you take time to explore this beautiful work of art.
    • International Rose Test Garden: (Garden Hours: Daily from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
      • Known as the “City of Roses,” it’s only right to have this particular garden, as it’s used as a testing ground for “new rose varieties.” There’s nothing else like this garden in the United States, which makes it even more reason to stop by and see this garden yourself.
  • Washington, DC
    • National Cherry Blossom Festival: (March 20, 2014 – April 13, 2014)
      • Share in this moment that remembers the gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo to the city of Washington, D.C. in 1912. This festival continues to the honor the friendship the United States has with Japan.
    • Passport DC: (May 1, 2014 – May 31, 2014)
      • This monthlong cultural celebration brings more than 70 embassies together for a true international exploration that takes place in one city.
  • New Orleans
    • NOLA FoodFest: (March 28, 2014 – March 30, 2014)
      • A weekend long food festival that brings our favorite hometown meals from across the U.S. together in one place. Yes, you read that right. Who could turn something like this down?
    • Spring Fiesta: (Weekend I: March 22, 2014 – March 23, 2014 and Weekend II: March 29, 2014 – March 30, 2014)
      • Capture New Orleans’ cultural and historical heritage through this festival. This is a time where you’re able to tap into the cities charm from the natives. Go for it!

So, we’re going to leave you with one question: where are you heading this spring?
