Holiday Movie Time Has Arrived

Holiday Travel

If you’ve turned on the television lately, you’ve probably seen hours of holiday movie marathons scheduled throughout the month of December. While you already may have a holiday classic permanently living in your DVD player, here are a few of our favorite holiday films perfect for anyone who’s caught the travel bug. Whether you’re watching these at home or on a Greyhound, these films are sure to bring some holiday cheer to your season.

  • The Holiday – If you’ve ever wanted to get away and head somewhere new around the holiday season, then you might have something in common with Iris and Amanda who decide to swap homes for the holidays. These two women get a lot more than they bargained for their holiday travels.
  • Serendipity – If you’re a believer in fate or are a hopeless romantic, we bet you’ll love Serendipity. Leaving their fate up to a $5 bill and a book, the two wonder if fate will bring them back together before Jonathan marries someone else.
  • The Polar Express –If you aren’t familiar with the popular children’s book, this film tells the story of young boy who begins doubting the existence of Santa Claus. On Christmas Eve, he catches a ride on the train headed to the North Pole to meet the big guy in red. Talk about a trip of a lifetime!
  • The Grinch – Hopefully you won’t encounter someone trying to stop Christmas from happening this year, but we love watching the Grinch’s heart grow three sizes as he realizes the holiday season is really about being with the ones you love. Plus, he makes himself a pretty great sleigh, dog-reindeer included.
  • National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation – All Clark Griswold wants is a perfect family Christmas, so naturally everything that can go wrong, does go wrong. Hopefully, your holiday vacation will go a little more smoothly than this one.
  • Elf – Buddy might travel farther than most of us for the holidays this year, but his enthusiasm will bring loads of holiday cheer. (And yes, you should sing it loud for all to hear.)
  • Cool Runnings – Based on the true story of the first Jamaican bobsled team, this movie will give you a bit of both sun and snow for your holiday travels.
  • Snow Dogs – When this Miami dentist learns he has an inheritance waiting for him in Alaska, he expects anything waiting for him except a pack of sled dogs. With each dog having a mind and personality of their own, Ted gets more than he bargained for when he decides to enter the Arctic Challenge sled dog race.

Don’t worry movie buffs, there are two movies we can’t wait to arrive in theaters that will bring out your sense of adventure this holiday season.

  • We can catch up with Bilbo Baggins, the dwarves and Gandalf the Grey on their quest to reclaim Erebor when The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens in theaters on Dec. 13!
  • The Secret Life of Walter Mitty hits theaters Dec. 25. To save his job and get the girl, Walter is given the chance to do more than just day dream of grand adventure.

What are you watching this holiday season? Let us know! And from the Greyhound family to yours, happy holidays!
