Greenhound Day 2014
With the holiday season just around the corner, many of us are making plans to spend time with our loved ones and of course, chow down on the delicious foods that come with the winter season. While we’re excited to drive our customers home for the holidays, we also think about the more than 1.2 million homeless youth living on the streets every year.
November is National Runaway Prevention Month and for the second year in a row we were thrilled to help drive awareness about runaway prevention and help prevent youth from running away in partnership with The National Runaway Safeline. We dubbed Nov. 20 as “Greenhound Day,” encouraging our employees across North America to wear green socks in honor of National Runaway Prevention Month and engage their communities in the conversation about the issue of runaway youth.
Greyhound employees proudly wear their green during National Runaway Prevention Month and work year round with the National Runaway Safeline. So far, our Home Free program has helped more than 14,000 runaway youth ages 12-20 return home free of charge.
Now we want to challenge you show your support by wearing something green this month and post your photos on social media with #NRPM2014. For more information on National Runaway Prevention Month, please visit www.1800runaway.org.
